Princes House, London

Project Requirement

London and its suburbs are home to many different styles of mansion blocks, one of which is Princes House. This particular building required the installation of a new rooflight, which would also lead to a re-waterproofing of the roof and an insulation upgrade.

The original waterproofing was stripped back to the original deck and a Cold Fusion Bonded Built-Up Roof system from Sika Liquid Plastics was installed. This included a tapered insulation scheme to channel water to the outlets and Decothane Delta 25 waterproofing membrane, providing guaranteed waterproof protection for at least 25 years.

A new Decolight rooflight was installed and pedestrian walkways were marked out in a contrasting colour and made trafficable with the addition of skid inhibiting grit.

The Sika Liquid Plastics system was chosen as the client had seen it successfully installed on other projects and also on the adjacent building. The system itself is completely cold applied, eradicating the need to any heat or naked flame and thus allowing a safe installation whilst the building was occupied.
